I've been asked by the Rio Grande Region (RGR)of the SCCA to be the Solo Director for 2010. In that capacity, I went to the National Convention. I attended several meetings regarding Rallycross and talked to lots of very motivated folks. There is a significant increase in Rallycross intererst in this half of the country.

Our local club (RGR) has a meeting this Thursday night in Albq. If you are interested in starting/expanding the rallycross effort in our area, let me know ASAP.

I know many autoxers and dedicated rally guys that live in the area. I'm not suggesting that you don't already have things going. I am saying that SCCA and our club could be a very positive part of the local effort. SCCA has the best insurance in the business. There is a large following across the country that recognizes the name and quality of SCCA efforts. SCCA has a team of full time employees to support our amateur activities. There are also several regions nearby that have done a ton of work to improve their programs.

I would love to rallycross. One of the biggest challenges is finding a site. IMHO, something near the Abq metro area that is cheap/free and safe would be ideal.

I personally would love to see this and would be amazed if we can't find some great sites in ABQ/SF/etc. I will be doing a 1 day Team ONeil school next month with a friend - would love to put some of that education to work.

Here's an update for anyone who isn't privy to RGRSCCA happenings.
We are planning a true Rallycross in October. Not sure on the date yet since we are working on making sure the schedule works for as many participants as possible.
Participants are strongly urged to respond to this thread and volunteers are greatly appreciated!

There are still many unknowns, but here are the dates we're looking at for an SCCA Rally-x event:

October 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th
